Its just more to say that you should really go with your own preference as with enough looking yo will find every anti virus is useless..

I bought a lap top, great it is, it came with a month of McAfee on it. I had norton on the desktop and took all the "stuff" <technical term that is> off it and then reinstalled everything back on to it. I purchased Norton 2004 back in 2004 (obviously) so every year in May I purchased the new update pack for Norton. When I reinstalled Norton I didnt get all the updates or anything else back on the computer, I had emailed Norton from early November and tried to get advice about getting the last 3 years worth of updates and they told me that Norton 2004 doesn't cover me for all new threats, but they are happy to sell me it every bloody May.

So when McAfee ran out I paid for it and totally removed Norton from the desktop and installed it on there as well. Years ago Norton was at the top of its field now they have outsourced customer care and technical advice to a non-uk base and the quality of support has gone so far down I won't use them again. They don't seem to care once they get your money.

Go with anyone except Norton...theyre pants.

To be fair, I recently had a wonderful experience with them - my Gampa had Norton 2004 on his laptop, and this year paid for his annual update but neglected to enter the key in his software, so it ran out.

I wasn't confident enough to suggest replacing it with a free one (although I'd never pay £30 a year for anti-virus!), so I got onto the website to find some support.

On Boxing Day, I had an instant response from their Live Chat service, and the chap on the other end took remote control of the laptop to try and find the package for us. When he couldn't find it either, he processed a full refund and offered us a "Seasonal" 50% off the Norton 2008 version, providing a link straight to it.

So, within half an hour on major bank holiday, my Gampa saved £5 and got a better package.

In other words, I wouldn't go with them either, but can't fault their customer support :o .

I normally take PC Pro lab results with a pinch of salt but the most recent one does give AVG quite a pounding and a lot of praise for Eset. http://www.pcpro.co.uk/labs/145071/avg-internet-security-75.html

And although it is Eset advertising the results, the data does come from AV-comparatives and VirusBulletin and personally they're the only independant anti virus testers I give most credence to in terms of objectivity and expertise.
