They will likely try it on stating it is nothing to do with them and you need to take it up with the insurer but it is their responsibility to ensure the data they are holding is accurate, they should be the ones chasing it up with the insurer if they receive a complaint. If it is not removed in 8 weeks you take it to the ICO.0

I received this from Experian today.
The password thing seemed a bit strange as how can you tell someone else your password.
I understand you are concerned about the 1st Central Insurance Ltd account reflecting on your credit report.
I appreciate your patience as I’m investigating this matter for you. Hope you’re well, my name is ******
Please be rest assured as I’ve reached out to 1st Central Insurance Ltd and raised a dispute on your behalf to investigate this further.
Also, the following statement will be added to your report in the next 7 days. It should take effect when your report next refreshes.
“The consumer has disputed the accuracy of this entry and we have therefore asked the provider to investigate it. Given that this data is disputed, please take care if making an assessment of any kind that may include this data."
This statement won’t affect your credit score. Under current legislation, lenders are legally obliged to read a Notice of Dispute when looking at your credit report. However, they do not need to take this into consideration.
Please remember that the information on your report is owned by the company and it's up to them if we can change it or not. It may take up to 28 days for us to respond as they have to review their information and reply to us. But don't worry, If there’s a delay we will chase them for you.
Additionally, you have an option to prevent any actual credit applications by adding a password to your credit report which prevents any applications from accessing your account without your consent in future. This means whenever a credit application is made in your name, the company will be asked for your password before going ahead.
Once you add the password to your credit report a Password Notice of Correction statement will be added to your credit report as follows:
"I *******, wish to inform companies that I believe my details are being used fraudulently in attempts to get credit in my name. I therefore wish to use the password "XXXXXXX" for any genuine credit application I make by myself".0
