Council tax second home premium

if that means you will revert to living in the UK and using the UK property as your sole residence then yes you will be back to paying normal CT,Binsky_snuff said:I don't want to sell it because of the extra council tax... so I will terminate my rented accomodation in Germany.
rather a radical change in your life just to avoid a bit of tax though, Surely you chose to retire to and live in Germany for a reason? If the UK flat is a "holiday home" then reverting to UK living may come as a shock to you in relation to the totality of the cost of living here compared to Germany
don't let the tax tail wag the dog !

That is the plan of the local authorities, to get people to make "lifestyle changes"?Bookworm105 said:

your "thoughts" are irrelevant noise like your prediction of an imminent house price crash that you make every month for the last decade or moreReadySteadyPop said:

To make as much money as possible, regardless of cause or source. Because they have spent/wasted it all.ReadySteadyPop said:

Looks that way, hopefully there will be a big sell off of holiday homes and the local areas and councils will be left to get on with it.Typhoon2000 said:

A 40% real term cut in central govt funds to local govts in 2010-20 was the major reasonTyphoon2000 said:

"Second home premium" for Council Tax is not linked to owning the properties, but having access to and using the properties. An individual could own no property but rent a substantial country property and also rent a studio in a city for weekday use and would still be considered to have two properties and one of those would be subject to the "second home premium".ReadySteadyPop said:As you only own one home surely you shouldn`t be paying a "second home premium"? Is there a "housing shortage" in Germany, or is that only a UK thing?3 -
Looks like no escape from the CT purge for multiple property users then?Grumpy_chap said:
