If you have just migrated sometimes they omit the heath element  until either the system catches up or a complaint is made.

Sorry, as on NS, it's not mirgrated over.
As you are in the SG of ESA you are put in LCWRA it seems that never happened, you need to raise a complaint, this will also stop them trying to make you look for work.
Your  ESA will be deducted from your UC claim, £ for £

New Style ESA is deducted in full from your UC award. At current rates the deduction is £598.86. This looks more than you receive but isn't, due to UC being a monthly benefit and ESA weekly. There are 4.3 weeks in a month.

UC Standard Allowance (single over 25) +LCWRA pays at current rates £809.64.

NS ESA of £598.86 is deducted.

    Leaving £210.78 of UC payable.

You'll still be receiving the NS ESA payments into your bank account.

Thanks, i get it now. It is such a confusing system. At least I know what im getting now even if it is a pittance. Im not sure how people are supposed to manage on such a small income. Its not too bad for me because I also get pip daily living but if i didnt i wouldnt be able to pay my bills and mortgage. I didnt ask for poor health thats for sure and I really have no idea how people with bigger housing costs will be able to manage.

UC & NS ESA are both income replacement benefits, a person is only entitled to one income under the welfare state, hence the deduction.

My friend got Old style ESA & Pip, the council charged her £5.50 a week as still of working age.
    You are disabled ?.
Has you house been adapted, an entrance ramp, bathroom etc.
If so you can get your band lowered ie C to B.
    Every little helps.

She got a ramp via the local occupational therapy dept.
    Took 3 months.
Plus a disabled bathroom, they gutted it Knocked toilet and bathroom into one.
Low access shower, sink and raised toilet.

Hi, I am but I dont need physical adjustments to my home. It is interesting they would lower the ctax bracket if adaptations were made to the property  x

  • As KxMx said you will still get your ESA paid in full on top of UC. UC will be reduced by ESA value. So You should get ESA every 2 weeks and UC on the same date each calendar month. As far as council tax reduction goes, you will have to speak to an advisor with their benefits department. My council (Bradford) count all income as earned if it is contribution based. If you only receive income based then they reduce the bill by up to 70% for working age adults. I was recieving income based ESA and migrated to UC but was also given New style ESA, this wiped out my previous council tax reduction. I have (today) closed the NS ESA claim and hopefully that should reinstate my CTR. I have my own thread regarding this. I will update there as I learn more. As I'm sure you know advice on here should be discussed with an expert before acting on it. At least you know you are not alone in the confusion of the now supposedly simpler benefits system which is UC.
