Shop Won't Pay for Sold Goods

Given the amount involved. I'd be at the premises in person. The business is most likely in financial trouble and has problems with it's cashflow. March could be a quarter where both rent / VAT are due. Enough to topple the business into insolvency.1

A friend had no seats/sofa . She was using deck chairs as her furniture kept getting delayed.
She went to the shop on a Saturday morning , stood at the door and told everybody coming in that they did not deliver orders.
Shw was politely asked to come to the back of the store and offered a display suite until her arrived.
Go in the shop when there are people in and make sure they hear you ask for the money she owes for X days/weeks.
Tell her you will wait there while she sorts out the payment as you do not really want to thave ake legal action to get it.
Alternatively, send a LBA and she may pay up. If she doesn't you need to follow through with the Small Claims Court.

That is good news. I hope it won't come to this, it would not be good PR for the shop, what are they thinking of?Aylesbury_Duck said:
Assuming your claim would be for something between £500 and £1000, the court fee is £70. There is no need to pay for legal advice, you can DIY.kr236rk said:If I do have to go 'small claims', will that be expensive please?
Been advised to give them til next week. Hope this is not going to turn unpleasant 🙏0 -
If there is still no sign of the payment next week, I will send a formal 'amount outstanding' letter (to be signed for). If that doesn't work I will mention 'small claims', & progress from there.0

Businesses get taken to court all the time without it being particularly visible (if a junior court).kr236rk said:

There are plenty of templates for a Letter Before Action available, so pick one that works for you and adapt where necessary....kr236rk said:If there is still no sign of the payment next week, I will send a formal 'amount outstanding' letter (to be signed for).
