Been with Plusnet 8 yrs (rural copper), same landline for 15 yrs. Got an email that I thought was a scam but it had too much personal stuff on it , saying sorry to see you go (I just feckin renewed 2 months ago) at the end of the month as they've had notification I'm moving to another provider, which is utter BS. So I called them and right enough (I called the number from the members area not from the email), they say this is happening and they have tried to call openreach to stop it but this "new" company are not one of the ones that are on their ""magic list" so they cannot stop the move. So on the 31st I will lose my number, broadband and everything for something I haven't done and have zero control over, what a f'n absolute scam and joke this is... Has anyone else had this happen to them? I'll be phoning the number from April and giving whoever has stolen it a piece of my mind if it isn't resolved by then...

Could it be that the 'new' company has initiated the transfer? So it is you, your number and bband than will transfer rather than some individual having stolen your details? A rogue person signing you up to the new company without your knowledge to get a commission payment?0

Could be as simple as a typo by someone putting in their number wrong or address wrong into the new providers website.
Who is this new provider? You should speak to them to get the transfer cancelled.
If the transfer goes through, then when you call the number it will be you who answers the phone as it is the provider that changes, not the location of the property. Or possibly that the new service won't have a landline at all.0 -
Unless you have enemies and it’s a malicious attempt to screw you over , it’s probably that a neighbour is attempting to change provider and either them or the ISP has selected the wrong address ( your address ) hence you getting the sorry to see you leave message …or it could be someone new moving to the area , unsure of postcodes etc , and it’s basically the same issue , your address has mistakenly been put on an order for them , instead of the address the customer really wants service at .
Unfortunately it seems with this new OTS ( One Touch Switching ) process, there doesn’t seem to be a way of unpicking errors like this , it would take the person making the order realising that the address on their order is wrong , contacting the ISP they were trying to use and asking for the order with the wrong address ( your address ) to be cancelled , and a new order raised for the correct address .
Is there anything out if the ordinary about your address , like it’s a flat , has a name instead of house number , or is open to misinterpretation for any reason ?0
