Moorside Parking ticket - small claims track

Hi, firstly my apologies as I have only just landed here and DID NOT file my defence as I have now read I should have, I know, I know…

I received IMO unjustified parking ticket in 2022, due to poor signage, the amount claiming for is now approx £250

… in a nutshell, Moorside have emailed me saying they intend to press ahead to court, and I have received a proposed allocation to small claims track.

I’m in damage limitation mode now i guess - what should I do now?

My sincere thanks in advance

On the 09/11/2022, I did access the Car Park of XXXX in my

vehicle registration XXXX XXX, turning immediately to the left and

parked facing away from the river.

Had entered the car park on the basis of waiting for a prospective

client of mine to return to his business across the road, to speak

to him and potentially have a drink in the Frog to talk business.

After a short amount of time, I realised that the business was in

fact closed for the day, and exited the car park.

After being notified of a Parking Fine, I returned on January 10th

to the site to assess the situation, as I had NO idea that use of

the pub car park was restricted or chargeable, and did not recall

being any signage to that effect.

I took photos and video evidence of the fact that there was NO

signage before or upon entry to the car park advising of charging,

and no visible payment machines on site.

Upon further investigation, I could only see a small 'Private

Land' sign attached to a trellis fence at the rear of the car

park, below eye level, that on the day in question was obscured by

parked vehicles, and on the day of returning was again obscured by

    parked vehicles.

I was unable to see this poorly located signage on the day in

question, particularly also as I did not leave my vehicle.

Had I known of any charge/fees to pay, I would certainly have paid

    on the day in question.

I travel extensively for my occupation and always pay any charges

due, and have had no previous claims against me for matter such as

this, and no reason to avoid fees as my company fully reimburse me

    for such costs.

I am more than happy to provide photographic and video evidence to

support my defence in my statement.

I do hope this clarifies more detail of this claim,

    Yours sincerely

I will certainly follow those steps religiously from here forward, I was specifically wondering as to where I stood now, having not filed my defence as per the steps previously.
    thank you

I understand that now, and this being my first time dealing with anything like this, my concern was more to ascertain if there any likely scenario I will succeed post issuing my very poor defence, or do I just concede I’ll be paying out?
