Mobile deals on uswitch seem to be cheaper than buying the handset outright

I am currently on a SIM only deal and have the flexibility to cancel it.

I would like to upgrade to a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra.  i have had a look here: https://www.samsung.com/uk/smartphones/galaxy-s25-ultra/buy/?cid=UK_PPC_4586843643_ID~GLB000699G_CN~S25-Ultra_BS~mx_PR~f1h25-pa3_SB~smart_PH~on_MK~gb_OB~conv_FS~hobl_FF~-&ad=736693893770&gad_source=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIsqrS_MKOjAMV9ZpQBh2HQy8aEAAYASAAEgKmxvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds .  The cost of a new 256GB |12GB phone is £1,349.

Yet if I do a search on uswitch ( https://www.uswitch.com/) appears to be S24 deals that included calls; messages and data for less e.g. there is a deal with id mobile 986.76 (two year contract).  there must be a catch and hence the question.

It is sometimes (but not always) the case that it's cheaper to buy a handset on contract. (In some circumstances they can do this because they buy the phone for less than they sell it and use some of the commission on the sim to offset the discount)

I often find it is cheaper to buy a phone on contract via an online reseller than buying the phone and SIM separately. ID Mobile are especially good value if you go down this route. If you want to save even more, you can also go through Top Cashback or Quidco to get cashback on top.

I've bought lots of phones through resellers such as Carphone Warehouse, mobiles.co.uk, Affordable Mobiles etc and not had any issues. I would never buy a new phone on contract through a high street store as their contract deals are often expensive.
