It's a private tutor sending mp3 wav files from her own mac & google drive.  I think google drive scans them automatically anyway?

I have met her in person and she has since sent me the file via google drive, however, google tells me it is too large to scan.
Google Drive scans files that are sent this way for viruses etc but it will fail with this message if the file is bigger than 100mb.
It should allow you to continue the download anyways, if you take this option and it is still refusing to download then look here

None of this is a fix for your original error.

The Wav file was 105mB so I suspect if I ask her to convert to MP3 on Google Drive, it will be OK.  Anyway I have scanned both wav and MP3 files she sent by email, and Windows defender doesn't flag up any issues.

what do you mean 'it gets error code 10014'
If I click on the attachment in the gmail post, it responds with precisely
    [{"errorCode":10014}]
What people are getting at is what is the 'it'

Are you saying, that when you try to open the email attachment in Gmail then Gmail shows you this error?

Or do you mean the attachment opens and displays this error?

If these are genuinely WAV and MP3 files what program(s) are you trying to play them in once you've downloaded them?  Windows Media Player?  VLC?  Audacity?  Somemthing else?

Do other sounds on your computer work?

You're not doing something silly like trying to open them in something that can't play Audio files?

(Error 10014 outside of other mentions seems to be a Winsock error, but that's to do with network connectivity)

I've managed to open it via a shared Google drive.  No need to bother with the attachment, whatever the problem was.
