Hi
Does anyone have any experience with Bioethanol stoves in terms of safety, room pollution and ease of use?
Many thanks.

I have no experience, so I'm not really in any position to comment.

However, what are you hoping to achieve in having one?

If primarily as a heating source, then from a quick Google, it looks like they are very expensive to run.

If the fuel costs +/-£4 per litre, then it works out at 67p per kWh.
Far cheaper to use a direct electric heater, which by any normal standards would be considered the most expensive way to heat a room!!

If you are looking at one for the aesthetics of having a flickering flame effect without the need for a fireplace/flue, then if used safely with adequate ventilation, I guess there is some appeal.

Yes, wanting the aesthetics of a real flame. Heat output is not the main objective. Thanks for your reply.

Burning ethanol produces carbon dioxide (not dangerous unless in high concentrations) and water vapour - This water vapour could lead to condensation problems and mould unless you have adequate ventilation or the stove is a room sealed model.
Refueling can be a high risk undertaking, so you need to make sure that the stove is cool, and there are no sources of ignition close by.
