Carmen1980 said:We are in similar situation. We have been waiting 18 weeks for confirmation from Glasgow Sherriff Court. It really had an impact on our ability to move forward and as executor, feeling pressure from family members. AAnyone else waited this long? It’s totally ridiculous and I’ll not be happy of it continues after 14 weeks. Yes it’s a busy sheriffdom but they should get more staff. Last summer it was 4 weeks so what has gone wrong?
As you say we’re now stuck in limbo and having to maintain a house and bills till we can sell it.0 -
II contacted our lawyer today for an update. They phoned the court for an update. Confirmation was granted on the 29th April and we should receive it through by the end of next week. The delays are all on the administration side. Let’s hope it happens.0

Just to wrap this up for anyone also dealing with Glasgow Sheriff Court. Confirmation paperwork finally received yesterday so that’s been 15 weeks in total. Paperwork confirmed that the application was granted on the 29th April. They really need more staff to deal with this in timely manner.0

I agree that 15 weeks is an extraordinary length of time to wait. I suspect there may be a real skill/staff gap which simply 'getting more staff' for isn't a quick fix. Substantial training is needed before staff can deal with confirmations due to their complexities. Perhaps a sympathetically worded email to the Office Manager or Sheriff Clerk explaining your difficulties and frustrations might help as I would imagine staff are struggling with the sheer volume of work. And no, I don't work at Glasgow Sheriff Court but do know the pressure court staff can often be under.0

My mother passed away in March 2024 and confirmation only took 4 weeks at the same court. Even during Covid it didn’t take 15 weeks according to our lawyer. So something has gone badly wrong and needs to be rectified. Whilst I do have sympathy for the staff that’s trying to deal with it all, it’s not helping people who are stuck in limbo and could badly need funds from the estate.0
