    Sometimes hospitals (and other organisations) will withhold their phone number because the number does not take incoming calls. My local NHS Trust makes automated reminder calls for outpatient appointments from a withheld number.

    Then your local NHS trust is run by idiots. The reminder calls should identify themselves using the Trust's published customer services number, even if that isn't the one making the calls.

    Their telephony service provider will absolutely 100% give them the ability to do this.

     Mine must be idiots too. Im under a GP and two different NHS trust hospitals and all show as 'private number'
