Hi - Has anyone been caught out by this - they offer you commission by completing orders - you get to take a salary and commission out each day, by day 5 they pay you $700 but you are asked to clear a negative balance on the account first £2500 - your acc then gets locked. They are pretending to be linked to Newbook@icloud which is an Australian company. They aare also registered with companies house as Newbook Europe LTD - Director is an Chris Petty

The website they ask you to log in and register too is Newbookhotel.xin or newbookhotel.fun

Are you saying they essentially ask you to make a payment in order to release your money? That's the oldest trick in the book, I can't believe anyone would fall for that.

No - the first 5 days they are giving you money for the orders you are putting through 0 in commission alone you are getting £800 and this is physically in your bank account so you could stop then and there. However as you are getting paid and see its making money you continue to do it. On day 5 thats when it reverses but the commission for each order goes up to £500-900 each time but you need to clear a negative first. The website is professional etc, so yes its oldest trick in the book to pay someone to release something but this is not like this as you are actually making good money first of all and not had to pay anything out of pocket until day 5CliveOfIndia said:Are you saying they essentially ask you to make a payment in order to release your money? So I sign up, do whatever fettling is required (what exactly is "completing orders"?), after 4 days I've got £500 in my bank account and I pull the plug and ignore them.
Why can't I do this?0 -
I'm not clear on how the negative balance suddenly appears. But that's irrelevant, really - sound like a classic example of the pig-butchering scam: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pig_butchering_scam

I agree, I suspect that the OP actually means that money is credited to his "account" in whatever online environment the scammers have you "working". I'd be gobsmacked if they actually bait this trap with real cash credited to your real world account.CliveOfIndia said:I'm not clear on how the negative balance suddenly appears. If they do then I'm in.1 -
You can but they are banking on the fact that you see money coming in you continue - they then say you one of your orders has given you 3/4 x the commission and to get it you need to repair your negative balance its created, But yes if you only stay in it for 5 days you could walk away with £500flaneurs_lobster said:So I sign up, do whatever fettling is required (what exactly is "completing orders"?), after 4 days I've got £500 in my bank account and I pull the plug and ignore them.

The Scam Factory podcast on BBC talks in details about this kind of scam and how it works, yes, they do send you some actual money initially to bait you. Worth a listen!0
