How can I get around new openreach 1 line only restrictions?

Options
I  tried to get a better deal with my provider BT but they told me that because I have 2 lines they could do nothing for me without moving to one line. And, that it would be the same if I went to any other provider that used open reach. That only leaves me Virgin.  I have a household line and my husband has a line set up through the civil service - we have nothing to do with it.  I'm feeling stuck as I'm keen for a better price. Any other thoughts of how to get round this please?

It is possible to have multiple services delivered over a single fibre, Openreach provide a multi-port ONT. I've no idea how you would migrate two unrelated services onto it.

Notwithstanding what BT have told you, have you tried any other suppliers?

Some clarification may help , having two lines in itself shouldn’t affect anything, but are these two lines separate, different phone numbers , different account numbers , paid from different accounts ?

Does the better deal you are trying to get on your residential line come with the obligation to take FTTP , and that’s what’s concerning you , that somehow getting FTTP will affect the ‘civil service’ line , which has to remain as it is ( for the time being at least ) ?

What seems difficult to understand, if the two lines are effectively separate ( apart from being at the same location )  , then when you call to upgrade the residential one you have  control over , the existence if the other civil service line is irrelevant, although if the ‘address’ is used to search for the existing service , then two services will be displayed, but all the representative has to do is select the appropriate one from the two  , no reason why the other one can’t remain exactly as it is now
