You say it previously been serviced on a range of dates in March, and that it could be up to weeks difference, has the date from last year passed?

Typically though most cars have a service indicator come on 30 days before the service is due. Usually a message on the dashboard saying service due in X days. An amber warning light is like a car from the 1990's.

Maybe the last service did an update which turned on or fixed a broken function to do this.

Either way, your car needs a service and if it is booked in 8 days, and it is before the anniversary date, just go with it.

The car passed the MOT with several advisories

    Suspension ball joints OSF

    Shock absorbers NSR leak

    Springs rear replace

    Tyres – ALL 4 replace
    With air con– serviced

    Total just over £1000

If I was half as smart as I think I am - I'd be twice as smart as I REALLY am.

Service was done a year ago, if it had not been reset it would have shown immediately after that service surely.

I agree - and since it was serviced in March 2024 - surely it should not start to nag me until  (just) over 12 months after the last service ?
I have owned the car from new and it is now almost 8 years old and I've never had this alert before....
it has always been serviced between 2 and 4 weeks before its anniversary by the main dealers and is booked in for 20th March already - is it safe to leave for 8 days ?
Every car I've had starts the nagging a couple of weeks before.

Sounds like in past years you got it serviced before the nag light came on, they then do the reset to say the service was done so it sits happy for another 50 weeks or so
