Music Magpie. Normally good but maybe avoid selling tech to them.
This is just a cautionary tale. i have been sending books and CDs to music magpie for some time and although it’s never a huge money spinner it’s quick and easy.
So I decided to trade them a Nintendo switch. Not used much. All boxes ,leads and paperwork with it. As new condition. Did a factory reset before sending and packed it with some CDs and books. Well packed. Received an email a few days later mentioning some missing items. Has happened before to be fair. But was concerned when it said that the Nintendo switch was one of the missing items. They had offered £120 for this and it was packed with everything else. Emailed straight back raising concerns and also sent proof of posting as required. They then emailed again saying that the switch was missing parts. (It wasn’t ) and I could either get them to recycle or have it sent back. This just seemed really strange that an item is first of all missing and then it’s reappeared but missing parts?. And it’s a high value item.Really just wanted to say that Music Magpie are great for CDs and books etc but maybe best to avoid for tech trade/ as there was definitely something not right. The switch came back today. With everything present. Also have traded tech items with other companies with no issues so definitely a bit strange.

I’d echo this, had an absolute nightmare sending an iPhone to them.I’d just received it from Apple (under the AppleCare replacement) so I’d said it was used but immaculate condition, as it was. They messed around for weeks “testing” claiming it wasn’t in good condition, offering me significantly less, it went on and on and I told them to return it in the end and sent it elsewhere who actually paid what they offered me in a decent timeframe.0

I had an incredibly poor experience trying to sell my phone to them using their qiosk in a asda. The phone looked almost new outside some very tiny microscratches around the charging port that couldn't really be seen unless under a bright light. I selected "Good" either way as that probably fitted best. They tried to argue the entire phone was faulty and wanted to offer something stupid like £40 for it. Walked over to CEX and got over £300 for it instead like I should have.0
