As per others, if it is a relatively modern push button toilet, a whole new flush mechanism can often be found for under £20 on screwfix, then any reasonaby comptent homeowner, or a diy competent relative, friend or neighbour should be able to fit it in about 20 minutes.

I've changed a couple of ours myself. The trickiest part is making sure you have the correct compatible mechanism, but taking some photos to your local plumbing centre or screwfix should mitigate this.

EDIT: I just noticed this bit:
The toilet does not stand alone and is kind of integrated into the wall with the bathroom sink

Does it look something like this:

If this is the case, then often the cistern is mounted to the wall inside the integrated unit.

It may therefore be required to remove the sink top or move the toilet forwards in order to access the cistern, which could make it a more involved job.

    • The middle class buy liabilities they think are assets.

  • Our toilet is like the one above ,all though i am fairly handy at mechanical things and plumbing when our flush mechanism fails it will be a headache as access is terrible.

Thank you!! It is exactly like that!!!

the plumber came round and it was infact the flush mechanism. I was quoted from £50 all the way up the £280 hahahahah! And they wonder why some trades people have a bad name. Anyway, I got it fixed for £50 and so far so good

    thank you all

£50 including a new flush valve? That's incredibly cheap.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?
