Travel Insurance renewal

I find that frustrating too. I had an annual policy due to expire in January 2025. I wanted to book a short river cruise in March 2025. My previous policy didn't include cruise cover but cruise cover is for things like emergency transfer to hospital or being confined to a cabin due to illness. None of these could possibly happen until I was on the trip. However, my insurer said that I needed to pay a cruise supplement in December rather than just adding it when I renewed in late January. I don't see the logic of that. Also I was reluctant to book any further trips for 2025 until I had renewed the cover. I wouldn't quite call it a 'fatal' flaw though. It is annoying but it doesn't kill us.Arthurian said:Annual travel insurance seems to have a fatal flaw, in that as you approach the end of the covered year, your next booked holidays are not covered until you renew. For example, it is March. You have an annual policy expiring at the end of April. You have booked a week away in May and a week away in September. You can't renew your annual policy until it expires in April. So the only way to get cover "as soon as you book", as far as I can see, is to cover holidays booked well in advance by means of single trip policies. Am I wrong?0 -

With my bank the policy doesn't automatically renew if you have any reportable medical conditions, even if there has been no change. I have to call them each year to declare them. That's not an issue if any medical conditions are on the list of those automatically covered.I get an annual statement of eligibilty from the bank's insurance provider - came by post until recently, now by email. No need to take further action unless change in pre-existing medical conditions.I'm just about to read the small print to confirm.Seems that not all providers follow the same procedures ?

This was the reminder I received from the insurers with my Lloyds Bank account. "We are writing to inform you that your current insurance upgrade is coming to an end soon. Your current Upgrade is valid up until 07/03/2025 . To continue to benefit from similar cover with us, you will need to get in touch with us to purchase a new Upgrade."0
