Eco4 Flex - Would we be approved ?

Hi,

As I am sure many know, there are lots of companies out there offering everything and saying you will be approved, but then it seems like a lot of them are not genuine companies.

I have made a request through my council, which i'm awaiting to hear back on.

I wanted to ask here based on others experience of what is genuine and whether we can get a claim going with the Eco4 grant support.

Both myself and my partner work, myself full time employed and my partner is self employed.  We care for our 9 year old daughter that has a rare syndrome, therefore we receive DLA / Higher rate mobility.  We also receive council tax benefit support which moves us back 1 band on the rates.  Related to our daughters syndrome she is non-verbal / cannot transition without support / mobility issues.

My understanding is that we should be able to make a claim for solar.

I'm not looking to be greedy, or get what we're not entitled to, it's more that we have a Lay-Z spa hot tub in the garden which we power on through the warmer times of the year, as it greatly benefits our daughters muscles, yet is expensive to run on the electric.  My hope is that if we can get solar panels / battery, then this is going to take the sting out of the hot tub running costs.

Any help / advice would be greatly appreciated.

ECO4 often gets discussed on the Energy forum. You'll find some threads over there.
Often, what's recommended is a bundle of improvements. These quite often include solar panels plus extra insulation and a heat pump to replace your combustion boiler or electric heaters. You're unlikely to be offered a battery (unless you pay extra yourself) and there's not often any chance to pick & choose - you take the complete bundle, or you turn it down.
Regarding your hot tub, how's it heated? You can get heat pumps specifically for hot tubs, which could reduce the amount of electricity the tub uses to 1/3rd or less (assuming you don't alreay have one).

Thanks for the reply, currently we power the hot tub through a power socket.  I'll look in to the heat pump option.

I've had some quotes for solar + battery, but even at £8200 it's too much for me at the moment so was hoping for some help towards this.
