Pixel 6a Not Observing Charge To 80%
My phone updated itself a couple of days ago. In battery settings charging optimisation I have it limited to 80% in the hope this will prolong its battery life. Before the upgrade this was working well, but since then it no longer stops at 80 and carries on charging to higher percentages.
Do I need to change something else in settings or is this a fault introduced with the latest update?

A Google Pixel phone may charge to 100% even if the 80% charging limit is enabled. This is done to recalibrate the battery's estimated capacity and to provide more accurate battery life estimates. When does the 80% limit apply? The 80% charging limit only works when the phone is powered on. If the phone's battery is fully depleted and it's plugged in to charge without being powered on soon after, it will charge to 100%1

Thanks John. I haven;'t fully depleted the battery, but I did read on a Reddit group that this update seems to trigger a recalibration. It says that you should let it charge to 100% and then leave it charging until a shield symbol appears next to the battery icon. After that the 80% limit should work again. I'll have a go later and report back.0

It has charged twice up to 100%. This afternoon I charged it again and it stopped at 80%. So presumably it had recalibrated itself and although I'm not sure why it took two goes to do that I'm pleased that normal service has resumed.0
