You could ask around friends/family/colleagues to try out their vacuum cleaners, see if there is one that performs better with your hair than current model.

I did the slipper trick with my previous vacuum, changed to another one (Samsung Jet 60, recommended to me by a friend with very floofy cats) and it picked up so much of my hair initially that I had to unblock 😮
I now don't need the slipper trick and remove hair from the outside roller regularly.
I took savvy_sue's advice and used the shortest nozzle and it seems to work quite well but it does mean it takes a long time!  Some of my hair is stuck fast into the carpet, so I would need to peel it off first before using the nozzle method.

I think it is because I step on to them and so this makes them embed into the carpet.  I will look at getting that brush, squeegee, which may help to peel them off the carpet first before using the vaccuum nozzle on them.
I'd say my advice was more akin to the squeegee - I certainly didn't nozzle much!

You could try getting a fabric shaver, but honestly, blankets are just a pain to clean when it comes to lint.

It's not much different from what you do now, but I (with my fingers or toes), rub the carpet in circles and that clumps the hair together into little bundles, making it easier to pick up. I don't think a squeegee would have the same effect because the hair sits below the surface of the carpet.

A silicone or rubber broom is the answer. My hair is all the way down my back and I find this type of brush works like a dream

Seconding the (long handled) rubber brush. Does wonders on the dog hair in my house. Far more effective than the Hoover.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

I use the rubber blade on the back of the window scraper from the car.  Saw an ad for a similar purpose made tool but the car scraper was right there waiting!  Of course it means getting down on your knees but it's very good for places like the stairs.  In my case it's been my sons - the eldest had arm's length hair, when he moved out the youngest took over!
