    I do accept I'll lose any deposit. It's just the price of the cancellation fee at E1600 is rediculous.
    Was there anything documented that stated, or even implied, that your liability if cancelling would be capped to loss of deposit?

    might be worth checking how much the Jet2 flights would be on their site for your dates to see if the total due (deposit + extra) is roughly correct for the flights and any applicable baggage etc.

    Thanks all, I think I'll just mentally move on from this and take my medicine. otherwise I'll just be bitter about it. I feel for anyone else who has to go through something similar. It feels like being scammed or digitially mugged! Luckily I'm finacially able to afford the loss - although it stings like hell.
