@molerat thank you .it says i only have a few years left for full state pension on the site so hopefully be ok. I have 10 or so years to pay the remaining years . I will top up one year this week and am considering topping up another one which is consierably more expensive as they are both over 6 years ago so thuis is my last chance on those ones0

Although i was opted out from serps around 1990 till they expired the program. Did not understand what i did and was not really aware that i was still opted out all those years . Not exactly sure how that will affect my state pension .Congratulations - you are a likely winner under the current rules transitioning us onto the New State Pension. You paid less NI (a discounted rate, if you like) whilst you were contracted out, but you will hopefully still accumulate enough years to get a full state pension even though you paid less NI for a number of years whilst you were contracted out.I am a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Benefits & tax credits, Heat pumps and Green & Ethical MoneySaving forums. The only real obstacle is ensuring you acquire the required number of years between now and state pension age, but you have time. Just make sure you keep on top of it and make sure your NI record is updated each year as you expect.tpeter said:
