Financial Security

Hi,

I have suffered long term unemployment from poor health.

I am related to rich people but I do not own any property not even a car.

I have been told repeatedly that I do not own anything.

Yet I am determined to own dignity.

My main assets is a Help to Buy ISA.

How can I protect myself immediately?

And in the very unlikely chance I get a little bit of inheritance money by fraud family in the future how do I protect that?

Thank you

Is this a question about how to retain eligibility to claim benefits perhaps?

Is the reference to 'fraud' an unfortunate typo?

Is your HTB ISA the best place to keep your savings? How likely is it you would be able to purchase a first home with a mortgage compliant with the scheme rules within the next 5-6 years when the scheme closes. It is probably not an account paying the best interest of the options available.
There are definitely some questions that arise which do not have financial answers, such as around you being told repeatedly that you do not own anything (as if it matters), comment around dignity, and an implied poor relationship with your family. So unclear whether "protecting" yourself should be taken more literally. Obviously protecting yourself physically and mentally should be prioritised over spending on personal possessions, so if the money can be used productively towards that purpose, then it will probably be a wise use of it.
