Replacing CD player in Nissan Micra
Options
I have a nissan micra 2016 and the CD player has started refusing to play. I approached our local Nissan dealer who quoted over £1000 to replace it. The car is only worth about £5000 so not really worth paying out that kind of money. I would appreciate any suggestions, I really miss playing music in my car. Thanks

Ask in a small local independent garage if they can source and fit a second-hand one?0

The issue isn't replacing the stereo, as such, it's the fact that they're so fully integrated into the dash and electronics in modern cars.
First, is yours a late K13 or an early K14 Micra? 2016 was the change-over year.
There's a facia adaptor for double-DIN into K13s.

You can also use it to put a single-DIN in, with a filler cubby for the other slot.
K14 is going to be a very different kettle of fish, since the touchscreen controls so much else.1 -
CDs are a bit old hat now. You could try using a Bluetooth FM transmitter to link your phone to the car radio and play the music through that. They're only around £10 and you'd be able to receive calls as well.1

You could still get it cheaper if you don't mind having an aftermarlet CD Player (which would sound a lot better than the stock one anyway). All you'd lose is the satnav screen if your model had it in the first place.Example: I had a VW Passat, I bought a new Alpine Bluetooth stereo, it was fitted for £300 all-in. This includeded the various trim panel, and a box to fill in the gap, and the canbus adpater stuff so that it can still communicate with the car's parking sensors and retain the steering wheel controls. In my opinion a far better and cheaper option than getting an OEM replacement. The only thing I don't have now is the satnav screen but it was rubbish and slow anyway, I use maps on my phone now which is much faster.1

I believe the OP would also need to mount the phone in a cradle and comply with the rules for using a phone while driving.0

There are loads of good phone mounts to buy, that's not really a problem. I prefer this method anyway, your phone maps are always updated. OEM sat navs are notiriously slow, and outdated very quickly0
