Broadband for intermittent usage - 4G?

Wondering if this makes sense: ditch an existing expensive VDSL line, and replace it with a 4G modem/router on a 2GB cheap monthly data sim, then just buy a 30-day 'unlimited data' add-on when I'm actually on site?

Inherited a house, but it needs a fair bit of work doing before we sell it on.  

I'll only be there for 3 weeks every 3 months-ish, so for a couple of months almost no daily data being used - BUT I still need a connection to control the heating, view cameras etc.  

When I am there, I'll be wanting something like a 40/10 service like at home.

Seems too simple! What am I missing ;-)

Very doable, but entirely dependent on having a decent 4/5G mobile signal.

My experience of using a (cheap) mifi with an unlimited data SIM for a month was OK, but the thing did need rebooting a few times when unresponsive. Might be an issue if you're not present - maybe the more substantial plug in mobile routers are more robust.

No experience, but wouldn't cctv data use more than 2GB/mth?

I don't know what CCTV you are using, but 2GB is not enough for it...

The CCTV data is minimal - I only check it when there's a motion ping.... it's not streaming full time!

The 4G on site is excellent, so in the absence of anyone shouting "NOOOOOO!", I think we'll be dropping the fixed line..
