Luckily, the test came back negative and I've had a smart meter installed on Friday 30th May. The problem is now solved !6

Can you confirm for us that the total cost of a great deal of peace of mind was £35?
It might be an idea to take a copy of the negative test result and stick it (perhaps laminated) inside the meter cupboard. That might save any future occupant the same sort of trouble you've had to weather.I'm not being lazy ...
