I may have to go to the Post Office, but that would unfortunately require me to SORN first I believe. Incidentally when I taxed at the Post Office when it was due renewal they mentioned no test certificate, but I explained to them that the van wasn't due test for a number of years yet and they must have overridden this. But surely it's clown world stuff that their system is flagging a problem where clearly none exists. It's not like the system hasn't dealt with vehicles not due a test certificate before...
Has there been a plate change?
But, no, PO can tax or renew anything. No need for it to be SORNed. You have the V11 reminder? If not, they can do it with the V5C.
If you're in NI, then you still need to take insurance along. No plate change. No V11 reminder. (Tax isn't due for a number of months.)However it needs to be retaxed this month to maximise £0 tax rate.
!!!!!! it does throw up a error msg when doing it, that you can simply ignore.Life in the slow lane0 -

It can have.
Just take it for one, if you want.
You could take a vehicle for an MOT on day 1 from brand new, and every single day after, if you really wanted.
But try taxing it at the PO first...0 -

But try taxing it at the PO first...I don't believe it's possible here, as all MoT/PSV/GVT test centres are government run. That and I wouldn't be paying £30.50 or whatever the current price is for something not required anyway!I will try the Post Office, although I have a huge problem with there being such an incompetent computer system that it rejects it for no test when clearly no test is required!0 -

Exactly what is this van & what group does it fit into?
Would really have helped, if these details were in 1st post.Life in the slow lane0 -
