Not told a shop didn't give refunds, but my item doesn't fit.

We don't know what month Pinkshoes got engaged (or even which hemisphere) but I am happy to accept that she knows better than you whether it was summer or winter.[Deleted User] said:
It's not summer, it's winter, so a protocol based on that assumption would have resulted in an even larger ring.pinkshoes said:
My engagement ring was the first ring I'd ever worn. I tried on what I thought was the right size, and the shop explained about it being summer and my hands being warm, so although it slipped on nicely now, it would be rather loose when my hands were cold, especially in winter.
Perhaps it is you making assumptions?0 -
Is “winter” not referring to the original post?[Deleted User] said:

It is. Alderbank seems to have confused themselves reading my single sentence post.sheramber said:

But they won't be au fait of the state of the OP when they presented, presumably a few days ago. Given this is a UK forum and they are taking about a UK brand it's reasonable to assume that the transaction did not occur in the northern hemisphere's summer. As such if anything true experts would have suggested a bigger size may have been required whereas the OP is complaining it's too big.pinkshoes said:
Because the jewellery shop are professionals, and would be completely au fait with hands swelling and shrinking and sizes.elsien said:Why was it the shops mistake in the sizing?
The OP tried it on the shop and it fitted at the time - surely they are best placed to know when a ring is on their finger whether it feels loose or not?It was the last ring left, and they decided to take a chance. That isn’t the shop fault.
Or are Warren James stores just run by minimum wage paid staff who have no knowledge of their products?!?!?!
Is it run by minimum wage staff? No, but the people who work in the shop predominately are. However it seems thats a good thing as they didn't suggest to size up for summer.0 -
Broadly speaking a ring need to be a loose fit if hands are cold, but not so loose that it will slide straight over a knuckle without any resistance. My hands swell in hot weather to the extent that I have to take my rings off.0

I wear a plastic ring size adjuster in winter and take it off in the summer as my fingers seem to swell a lot with the heat.1
