No Buying Unnecessary Toiletries in March 2025

Apologies I've not worked out my list yet. I feel so disorganised at the moment. I have managed to use up a travel size of L'Occitane Almond Shower Oil.
I now want to use-up a partially used Liz Earle shower Gel - Cardamom and Chamomile. It was part of a QVC TSV that I should not have purchased! I really dislike the bottle design. Not sure if it's just my hands getting weaker as I get older but I really struggle to get the product out of the bottle. Anyhow, the sooner it's used up the better.
I have a couple of possible throwaways (I'll see if my nieces want them first). Clinique Black Cherry Almost lipstick and the matching Lip and Cheek Oil. It's time to admit that these just do not suit me, no matter how much I would love them to. The pink version of the Almost Lipstick is more my colour.Frugal Living challenge 2025

Another UU from my Finish 25 in 2025 - Orly Shaky Alibi - WBA though I have a similar nude colour at the moment.
I have INs to declare. I bought a Beauty Bay Mystery bag for £30. You could choose the eyeshadow palette - I went for Rich and all other items were a mystery. I got a mascara, highlighter, liquud blush, lip tint, cleansing balm, eye cream and hair oil. Priced it all up and it was worth £50.
I also bought some itens from ALDi - eyebriw pencil which i am really impressed with, hyaluronic serum, 2 x hair masks and a skin tint.Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

There is a point to this post though! Before Xmas I had an allergic reaction to salon hairspray and while my face is mostly better, I definitely need a product with sunscreen every time I leave the house this year. So on Monday I have an appointment at a beauty counter. I’m hoping that I will leave knowing my skin tone/shade, and they’ll give me some samples to test.
I do still have a drawerful of makeup from pre-pandemic days, when I wore makeup for work. It never seemed to look right on Teams calls so I stopped wearing any (I’m hoping that the makeup artist will help me understand why). But maybe with a bit of shade mixing, I could use it up. The question is, how dangerous would that be - are there some types of makeup you’d definitely throw away?In advance of my beauty counter visit I’ve had a first pass at the makeup drawer. I know what the definite gaps are now. I’ve also swatched a few products. It’s made me realise that with some it’s not the colour I don’t like, but how heavy the formulation is.
TA - I thought these were spluttering but they seem to have dried up
YSL Touche Eclat
Benefit They’re Real Mascara
No 7 Mascara
TA - these were NBI
Body Shop Lipstick in a really non-flattering shade
No7 lip gloss, ditto and I really disliked its stickiness
I can decide on UUs when I know what’s IN.
I’ve also washed my makeup brushes with the cleaner I use for my watercolour brushes. Much more effective than plain soap! Here to confess my INs (see what I did there?) before I work out my UUs and TAs at the weekend
IN: Trinny London products colour matched at the counter
BFF SPF30 Skin Perfector (replaces the pre-pandemic foundations I need to TA)
BFF Eye Serum Concealer (replaces YSL Touche Eclat TA)
Eye2Eye in a matte neutral tan
Lip2Cheek in a matte soft neutral peach
Also IN:
Clinique Lash Power Mascara (replaces TA mascaras)
Clinique Almost Lipstick Black Honey
With these I can now do a no-makeup look, to ease back into wearing some. And trial the eye/cheek/lip makeup I already have that I can UU.
I’ll do my time on the naughty step for the Almost Lipstick!
I have one IN for skincare - The Ordinary 5% Lactic Acid (replaces more harsh acids TA after my allergic reaction, as a precaution) and one Splutterer - The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser (I’ve aleady started a TO Glycolipid Cream Cleanser)
Garnier Cleanser Sensitive Skin
Clinique Moisture Surge
TA: Vaseline Aloe Lip Salve - too greasy
Spluttering: I repurposed the tin for the dregs of two Nivea lip balms dug out of the tube
Lots going ‘IN’ at the moment, I need to audit everything so I can prove to myself there’s a net reduction - within a couple of months!Fashion on the Ration

Thanks everyone!!!!!! Thank god she is cute because this is hard work!! She's currently snoozing whilst hubbie is out for a run- we're working on separation anxiety with her and teaching her how to settle. We'll get there but it's tough- she needs a lot of supervision as she can get into everything- she's like a puppy in an adult dog body that can reach everything and can gallop around the house like a crazy horse!
We haven't had much time to ourselves, so skincare routine has been quite truncated. I'm lucky to put on some sunscreen and a bit of concealer at the moment, so I won't be purchasing much for a while I don't think, but I also won't be finishing much for a while!
I do have a few INS from before Ms Sybil arrived, and a few outs but not a whole lot going on rn!
IN- 3 x Lily Lolo- Mineral foundation samples in different shades: Want something super quick I can just whizz round my face to even things up a bit super quick. Trying the other two to see which is best, though am not sure it has the lasting power I need.
- Lily Lolo- Mineral Corrector in Peepo: current one is running lowish. Since I wanted to try the foundation, I figured sensible to get the yellow colour corrector at the same time. In normal times I use this everyday to colour correct any blemishes or dark mark, though haven't used it much pre-Sybil so far.
- Revolution Hydrate & Fix Fixing Spray 100ml: Current one looks like it will run out in March, so as I was making a Boots order, I added this in
- Maybelline Fit Me Matte & Poreless oil control powder: current one I am having to scrape round the corners to use, will be done soon, so this is replacement.
OUT- Boots Salicylic acid cleanser: Prefer the Ordinary one for cleaning my brushes and sponges, so swapping back to that. Replacement bought at the end of last month.
- e.l.f. Power Grip Primer: Bought the replacement for this in December, scared it'd run out over Christmas, and here we are, March….
- IUNIK Beta Glucan Moisturiser: Love this moisturiser, nice light feel. Somehow I have got consistency the wrong way round because my next in the stash to use is the IUNIK Black Snail cream which is a much thicker cream, probably better going into winter rather than warmer months but hey ho. It's still in a squeezy tube but it is harder to squeeze out. I do like a thicker night moisturiser so it might be good for all year round tho- we'll see!
- Tigi Bed Head Motor Mouth Volume Shine Hair Cream 240ml: This product precedes my spreadsheet (started in 2022)…. I like this, use it when I blow dry my hair in the colder months. Probs won't get much use as I switch over to airdrying once it is consistently warmer. I don't think they do this one anymore, but I bought their closest equivalent last month when I was on the dregs of this.
- Sol de Janeiro - Moisturising Shower Cream-Gel - travel size: Smells like cake, very vanilla-y. Not bad, wouldn't buy though. It's creamy and just seems to vanish too- maybe I prefer more suds for my shower gel?
One pan in my Shroud- Hallobean palette in shade Woodsboro (orange shimmer, though not hugely shimmery- more metallic sheen?). I'm all about the one and done right now, if I even remotely have time to put any eyeshadow on!Jan Grocery Challenge 2023: £181.18/£400

Back from our little trip to Prague where I used up a lot of sample sachets, 20 to be exact! Plus I have a few minis that will be finished this month too (I might have left them at my parents house when we came back so will be picking those back up on Friday). Only products of note were the Kiehl's oil free moisturising gel which my skin really liked and the L'Occitane Immortelle range too...
Another UU to report:
Good Stuff Only Relaxing bath bomb - this was a present from a friend at Christmas and I loved it. It's from a local maker near her and will be going to see her again in a couple of weeks so might have to make a trip to the store to pick up a couple.
Also have a TA to sadly mention:
Avene Cicalfate + 100ml - left this in my car at the airport ready for an overnight stay with the parents when we got back, and the freezing temperatures meant it separated really badly so sadly have had to throw away. Will replace with the smaller size at the weekend when I'm next near a Boots as I have some recycling empties to drop off.

Oooh, trip to Prague- very nice!!
A few UUs- Sure deodorant spray- Uplifting & Fresh (250ml)
- Batiste On The Go Dry Shampoo - Blush 50ml
- No 7 Sheer Temptation Lipstick in Coral Peach: Scraping out for quite a while, cant be bothered now, so calling it. Got replacement a while back as I love this one
- Natalie Pete Shower gel: But used as handsoap cos we ran out.
- Maybelline Fit Me Matte & Poreless oil control powder: Got the replacement for this at the start of the month as I knew it was gonna be done this month
INs- Sure deodorant spray- Uplifting & Fresh (250ml)
- Nivea hydro care lipbalm: I've been trying to use up my vaseline tins and I am SO CLOSE with one of them…. But that feels really unhygienic with the dog rn, so I needed a basic vaseline type chapstick as sometimes my other lipbalms just doesnt feel as nourishing/protective. Hubs picked this up for me from Tesco (bless him he couldn't pick so he sent me a picture of every lipbalm Tesco had
)
And I hit pan in my Bella Beaute Bar- Strange and Unusual eyeshadow palette in the shade Juno- a sparkly goldy orange- a great one and done shade for me.Jan Grocery Challenge 2023: £181.18/£400
