I'm not sure about Wickes, but some of the tongue and groove loft flooring sold at DIY stores comes in quite small board sizes and therefore takes ages to fit. When I last did loft flooring I bought T&G chipboard from a builders' merchant (I think it was Travis Perkins) which sold it in 8' by 2' lengths (I think) - although obviously check if your hatch is big enough.

By the way, are you taking any measures to upgrade the insulation to something near the recommended level and prevent cold bridging around the joists?
Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
On a rotating plate, with spikes like Flash Gordon
And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning
