For example, for an ETF on HL you'll pay £11.95 to buy the ETF version and there'll be a small spread. In an ISA there will also be a platform charge of 0.45% pa capped at £45. For the fund version they'll charge 45% ongoing charge which isn't capped, but there's no dealing charge no matter how often you trade or switch.
Bought on Iweb, there's the same £5 dealing charge for stocks, funds, ETFs, ITs etc. with no ongoing platform fee. Then there are the "free" platforms whose terms you need to read and consider how they will make their profit.0
