I got a bosch one (slimline) and I am really happy with it. When I was looking, people were recommending bosch, miele and siemens. The siemens ones looked the same as the bosch I bought - including the racks inside and the functions/buttons.

I bought a Bosch Classix about 18 months ago and it's great. There's five of us and it has enough room for all our dinner dishes plus breakfast and anything else that's been used through the day. It has a delay timer on it so I can go to bed and delay it until the white meter comes on in the night.I only ever use it on the lowest wash and almost always everything comes out gleaming and it only takes around 35 minutes. It was a really good buy in my opinion.

I have a Miele - cost us around £379 from John Lewis online, plus some cashback (which from memory was around 8%) via quidco.

Cheaper than I expected - my previous dishwasher (which expired in spectacular fashion...) was a Zanussi and cost £359 only two years before.....

We also had to replace the washing machine this year, and have a Bosch, which we are very pleased with. Not sure what they're like with dishwashers, but if it's anything like the washing machine then I would highly recommend it.

I have a Bosch Clasixx. It cost about £350 when we bought it 5/6 years ago. It's been on twice a day ever since and not given us a moments bother.

I recently bought a Indesit IDL 535 silver, about £200, excellent machine with a 25min cycle time, very pleased with it.

My first dishwasher was a Zanussi, which lasted 13 years; the second a Bosch has lasted 11 years to date and still going strong.

The man who delivered our first one said there was very little to go wrong with a dishwasher, so really I would only say to get the quietest one in use if it's to be used in your kitchen.
I let my mind wander and it never came back!
  • Make sure you don't get a Kenwood! We've had ours for 8 months and it's broken down twice in that time (got repaired on the 22th of December and broke down yesterday on the 5th wash since repair.) Typically Currys aren't making it easy for us to get our money back or a new machine but they are "happy to fix it".....

So while I can't recommend anything - I can say stay clear of Kenwood and Currys.

ok looks like i will be going with a bosch one then, i'm not really bothered with digital displays and all that lot just basic dials will do so i will find a good basic model and save the rest of the money for a holiday.
