Claim letter for parking offence from Aug 2019

Hi, we got a parking ticket from UKPS for parking just the wrong bay in a carpark in 2019. At the time we ignored it and that was that. Recently they've started chasing for it and now have sent a claim form. Obviously it was 5+ yrs ago, I don't know what the signage etc was like, or remember the exact details. Is there any point trying to argue it without this knowledge? Can we offer to pay a reduced amount to get them to bog off? We just don't want a ccj or black mark on our credit record - we've worked hard over the years to get a good credit rating. Not sure if arguing it will just make things worse? Thanks for any help.

What is the Issue Date on your Claim Form?
Can you please show us a picture of the Particulars of Claim - with all your personal detail hidden of course.
Have you filed an Acknowledgment of Service?
If so, upon what date did you do so?
Your MCOL Claim History will have the definitive answer to that.2 -
We only got it yesterday so have done nothing so far. What is MCOL?1

So UKPS, presumably via Moorside Legal ? Issue date 20th February 2025
Poor POC, no actual information about the alleged breach
You can Google MCOL , Google any aspect you dont understand, plus read the 5th post as well as the 2nd post in the newbies sticky thread in announcements near the top of the forum2 -
star9 said:Issue date 20 Feb 2025.With a Claim Issue Date of 20th February, you have until Tuesday 11th March to file an Acknowledgment of Service('AOS'). Do not file an AOS before 25th February, but otherwise there is nothing to be gained by delaying it.To file an AOS, follow the guidance in the Dropbox file linked from the second post in the NEWBIES thread.
Having filed an AOS in a timely manner, you have until 4pm on Tuesday 25th March 2025 to file a Defence. That's over four weeks away. Plenty of time to produce a Defence, but please don't leave it to the last minute. To create a Defence, and then file a Defence by email, look again at the second post on the NEWBIES thread - immediately following where you found the AOS guidance.Don't miss the deadline for filing an AOS, nor that for filing a Defence.
Do not try and file a Defence via the MoneyClaimOnline website. Once an AOS has been filed, the MCOL website should be treated as 'read only'.3 -
Why not just read other threads about claims from the same solicitor firm? Which firm?
Just copy & adapt another recent defence.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
