Has Royal Mail stopped collection from home?

Whole of last week I had been unable to arrange Royal Mail collection from home.  The option isn't there.  I thought that was because it was half term and they must have staff shortages.  I am trying to arrange collection for tomorrow but the option is still not there.
Does anyone know if this is temporary or has RM stopped this service completely?

Their website still appears to be offering it...

Sorry I should have said that I need the "bring the label" option, not just collection.   That option is not there.

It might be area specific, the link in @p00hsticks post indicates they'll bring a label if you want.

Tried booking collection with bring my label last night and still not working.  Not sure what is happening.  I thought it was due to staff being away at half term but half term is long gone now!

If it's localised it might be worth trying (and I know how difficult it is to get hold of anyone) your local Mail centre to see what the reason is.

That is if they are not automated!  Let's hope a human answers!
  • I am experiencing the same problem in G67, there is a message saying "It's not you, it's us... we're working hard to offer collections in your area again soon", I am guessing it is a staffing issue as I am currently only getting post delivered once a week.

Bumped into my post man on Friday and I asked him.  He said they are changing the staff rotas so they have stopped collections in my area.  Can't understand it - takes over 2 weeks to change staff rotas?   I was getting the same message "It's not you, it's us... we're working hard to offer collections in your area again soon"

It really does feel like the postal service is being intentionally destroyed (or maybe I should take my tin hat off). RM heavily promoted the collection service, you can't use a bus or train in London without seeing adverts plastered everywhere for it, yet in many areas they didn't even have enough staff to do a daily post.

Then the Post office started offering more services encouraging people to use them more, resulting locally in huge queues , but then slapped on a price difference between them and the PO for everything other than a letter or large letter under 100g. (I don't know if it was RM or PO that managed the price differences.)

Locally now we have started a programme of local PO closures, about half have gone in the past couple of years, even ones where it was usual to have 25 minutes queues, that pushes more people to the remaining POs, and if our WH Smith closes that leaves me with one small corner shop about a 15 minute walk away. That's OK for me, but no where near the main town, or near any of the areas which have lost their POs already.

No doubt we will soon hear of the 2025 postage rises as well.

I think this is more likely to cause the demise of online shopping with sites like ebay rather than any thing ebay do.
