Ebay Watched Items Have Jumped in Price

Around a week ago I noticed that a lot of the items I am watching have jumped up in price. For example, an item I was watching was £6,250 went up to £6,336.72. Another item that was £10 is now £11.12. Also when I'm browsing ebay items, the starting prices / buy it now prices on a lot of items now end in strangely random 'pence' figures and not the usual 00, 99 or 95.
Can anyone explain what's happened?
TIA.

Have the items had bids?0

The two items I mentioned are 'buy it now' listings but it's also happened to auction listings with zero bids.0

I think it is to do with the new buyer protection fees that ebay have just announced? A lot of stories about it on online news outlets with people saying the original advertised price has now gone up i.e. something listed for £500 chnages to £515.75 if you actually buy it and check out3

Yes the above re: buyer protection fees is the likely reason for showing an increase in price,
However I noticed it before the change for added buyer protection. Not that many times, but a couple. Which does not surprise me really. In my experience a serious buyer will bid, or make an offer, on something quite quickly. If there is no interest at the lower price, some sellers will up the price a bit.
Some people do seem to treat the watch list like a little bit of a trophy cabinet or something.. just put loads of items in their watch list, to admire.. I remember many years ago now, I sold an item of jewellery that I no longer wanted. had generated a fair bit of interest, lots of questions before hand, and a number of bidders in the end. Got one message a couple of days later from someone who was really quite annoyed, apparently they didn't realize the auction was finishing. they ended their message with: "Are you really sure it's gone? But, I was Watching that!"0 -
