Hmm. So contracts are about to be exchanged and dates being discussed.
I've spoken to my chosen Removal company and got a date. Trouble is they want a deposit (not in itself a problem) but if it falls through or date changes etc its going to be expensive.
BUT, if I wait, chances are I lose the Removal slot. Go back to solicitor, rinse and repeat etc.
What's best plan? Can you get insurance for this?
I don't totally trust the vendors of the house we're buying so a bit wary. They've messed around and been indecisive from the off. I can just see them wanting to delay at last minute because they haven't bothered thinking about booking removal company.

Most removal firms offer an indemnity policy in case of change of date0

How close are you to exchange? as soon as you HAVE exchanged, paying the deposit isn't an issue as the date is fixed - do you think you can hold the removal company off on releasing your booking until exchange has happened?
Yes - you could go the insurance route, but obviously there will be a cost involved there too.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Have you actually checked the charges for changing dates, cancellations etc. They will not necessarily mean that you will lose the whole deposit.0 -
When contracts are exchanged. Completion date is set. Could always allow a bigger time gap.0

I’d wait to book until after you’ve exchanged contracts and so know the date of completion. And book the move for the day after (if possible). That way, if there are any last-minute delays on completion day, your move won’t be affected.Good luck!0

I agree to wait until exchange before booking. Then be prepared to be flexible and ready for anything. My daughter in NI was still sitting outside her new property with her removal lorry at 1500 hours, the young couple selling were separating and it was chaos. She was finally in at 1800.£216 saved 24 October 20140

The moment your Conveyancer confirms exchange has happened, get them booked in and pay the deposit0

Are you sure you'll lose your slot? Given how quiet the property market has been for the last 2 years, I find it hard to believe the moving companies are rammed with people fighting to get slots.
I'm also in that reserved date with movers but not exchanged yet period and my movers have said if anyone else tries to get my slot they'll let me know and I guess at that point I'll have the option to pay up or let the slot go.0
