The dreaded annual price rise of inflation + a further percentage

Options
I have just been notified by EE that my monthly bill (for SIM only, 5 GB data, unlimited texts/calls) will be increasing from £13 p.m. to £14.50 i.e. £1.50 increase or almost 12%. This is supposedly CPI + 5%. There is no way that the CPI is 7%! I rang EE to complain but got nowhere. Hence I plan to leave EE asap as friends have been telling me to for quite a while, because there are much cheaper deals to be had.

I see there is a company called Spusu who use EE for their mobile coverage. They are much, much cheaper than EE but they seem to be a new outfit which makes me a bit nervous. I have emailed them tonight to ask if they can assure me that I will get the same reception in my post code area as I am with EE.

Does anyone have any experience with this company?

Thanks.
Jeff

Try 1p mobile.  They use the ee network, and is as fast as ee itself data wise, been with them 3 months now and no issues

Another vote for 1p Mobile. Been with them several months, no problems and they include EU roaming + Channel Is and Isle of Man roaming too.
  • Thank you Badboi and Frozen_up_north, I'll check them out.

I am completely clueless when it comes to SIM cards i.e. swapping a new one for the old one. What could possibly go wrong....! As you haven't had any problem with 1p I don't suppose you can answer the question: what is their back up support like, if, or more like, when, I get a problem switching SIM cards?

  • Forgot to add that I cannot make WiFi calls with Spusu apparently as my OPPO A54 5G phone is not compatible, so have crossed them off my list of potential suppliers. According to the 1p AI assistant I will be able to make WiFi calls.

Jeff, 1p have WiFi calling available on my iPhone 13. Not sure about other phone types.

My WiFi calling was turned off as we were recently overseas and the recommendation was to turn it off. Incidentally we were in Tenerife and had 5G pretty much everywhere.

Thanks. I will definitely check with a human being at 1p before I do anything!
