Renault Clio - Warranty

Looking for some advice please, completely at my wits end and wasn’t sure of the best place to put this.
I have a Renault Clio on PCP car finance, just over 3 years in. The vehicle broke down a few weeks back, my local garage (where it gets serviced) was unable to ascertain the issue, so had to take it to a Renault garage. Their findings are a complete gearbox failure, due to the seal between gearbox and engine coming loose, so no oil got through to the gearbox. However, Renault are saying the warranty is void due to the “wrong” engine oil being used when the car was serviced. Renault are saying the only oil that should be used is 5w-30, but if you find the make and model of my car online, then either 5w-30 OR 0w-20 can be used. The quote I have been given for the repair is £14,500. I feel they simply do not want to honor the warranty, and am not sure what the route forward is from here if anyone can help / advise?

If the vehicle is over 3 years old, the original warranty would have expired I would have thought. Or is this some extended warranty?0

Renault warranties have been up to 5 years, but OP doesn't give the age of the car, just that its on a PCP.
Where has the vehicle been serviced? If outside of main dealer you will need evidence all replacement fluids and components were to manufacturer standards to have any hope of claiming against a warranty.
This does highlight the issue of renting a car on a PCP. The vehicle will have to be repaired to meet the terms of the loan agreement and preserve the GFV.0 -

What does the maintenance manual tell you? Hopefully the same and means that provided it was changed by a VAT registered garage with invoice evidence you can bat that one back at them.0
