Switch from Virgin to Sky

Just a heads up, My contract with Virginmedia (Broadband, phone and basic tv package) ended in December, as a consequence the price went up from £42 to £65 originally was £39.
After some research I decided to switch to Sky similar package but next level up tv + Netflix and Discovery+, price is £39, so saving £26 a month. All good so far. However, I need installation for the FFBB, this is not due until 24 March. Sky sent out their Skystream puck 27 January, so I am currently paying £22 for Sky and still paying £65 to Virgin until the switch is completed.

Having very similar experience but with added broadband complications

Sky sent out the pucks very early - and set an activation date that wasn’t agreed on the phone. When I complained they credited my account to cover the costs until the date agreed for changeover at the end of my Virgin deal.

However  the broadband has been delayed and so the ‘one-touch switchover’ hasn’t gone though, so I am now outwith my contract, paying more than £100 a month MORE than my previous promotional price per month… and now with Sky on top.

Tried to remove TV from my existing Virgin package since I now have Sky TV but Virgin won’t remove it without restarting another 18month contract.

still need broadband so can’t cancel altogether and Sky are just knocking the date for a ‘further update’ on and on while my charges to. Virgin go up and up.

Have complained but only get told to wait until the next update message 😩

Would hope Sky compensation procedure would be clearer.

    Thanks for the replies.
Update, Openreach arrived unexpectedly earlier this month to run the new cable to my home, no problem there.
I got a message from Sky/Openreach moving the installation/activation date forward to 11 April.
This went ahead with no problem, so all up and running.
Just waiting for the final bill from Virgin and the box and instructions to return their equipment.

My contract expires on 25/8 currently paying £26.65. I had a call from virgin to offer a renewal, whilst I was at the airport. The renewal price was £28, I asked for it to be emailed as unable to talk at that time.

renewal email arrived saying it was going up to £74 a month at end of contract.

so I contacted them via WhatsApp- only because I have a copy of what was said and a lot of times I struggle to understand the agents due to background noise and language.

after 3 hours of messages and being transferred from sakes to retention I had the following offers.

AGENT- with discounts I can give same package and get it down from £74 to £48 (80% increase)

    RETENTION - with discounts I can offer for a total of £39 for 500mb ( (46% increase)
Or £36. ( 35% increase) for same package.
Kicker was they said same package as currently on is £68 a month before discounts. My accounts shows it’s actually £69.95
so the  package price has gone done, but they want to hike monthly fee.

Asked them to send me a recording of call I had, and they couldn’t find record of it although I have the number showing on phone as call received.

I took out a complaint and was told they would respond in 48-72 hours.

now been 10 days with no response, so after 25 years I’ve signed up to now full fibre 500 for £29.

i have WhatsApp messages as I’ve now asked for a letter of deadlock so I can register a complaint with the relevant authorities, especially when the offer call I received, they are denying it was made.

the made reason I use chats nowadays with companies, so it’s all in black and white.

    Further update:
All been up and running for a couple of months now. Although Sky BB has had a price  increase.
On the upside Sky credited my account with £130 due to late installation and Virgin sent a cheque for £169 for overpayment. Also got £100 from Topcashback.
