Alright peeps
I am a private seller of a vehicle, I have owned the car for 12 years now and I know it is HPI clear, not written off or been involved in an accident, never had any finance added to it.. I have put that all of that on my listings/adverts.
However I am having a few people asking me to do a HIP report or a super motors report myself.. I thought that it was the buyers responsibility to do this and not the actual seller? They keep wanting me to pay to do the reports...

My understanding is the same as yours. Let them do it if they are so interested, however the flip side is that if you do it you can also include that in your advert and then adjust your selling price accordingly.1

Ultimately you are free to say yes or no or maybe come up with another solution... for example you could say you'll refund up to £10 for a check if it doesn't come back clean or do your own and offer to sell it to each of the enquirers for 50% of the cost0 -
Be careful - I've had people message me on FB asking for this, then they send a link...supposed to be to the report issuing page..."Can you get a report from here? I will send deposit immediately if report is good"
No, mate, I can't, because you're a scammer and that's a dodgy link which I am NOT going to click on5 -
Never heard of buyers being asked, I swear these people are employed by WBAC to annoy private sellers.
I personally would hold firm and say no , I am happy with the status of my vehicle, it's a 12 ? year old vehicle.
I would also point out that if you are serious about buying the car you would be better to pay for one yourself to ensure you have the protection / guarantee's that they offer. If I buy it for you there will be non of the other benefits available to you.1 -

It is a well known scam.they want you to give your details to their fake HPI check so they can charge thousands to your card. They are not interested in buying your car!Any one serious about buying would pay £10 for their own check. You could get a £10 check yourself and show it to prospective buyers, but you could have just faked it and printed it out anyway, so they will still want to pay their own £10.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
(except air quality and Medical Science)

If you advertised it on Auto Trader it would have done a basic check as part of the advert. They're not expensive anyway (for a more thorough check), I always do one when I'm selling a car - so I know too, what its status is!1
