As I said normal rules of logic and accountancy don't apply in a "re-billing" scenario. I have always paid by variable D/D which should zero the account each month. But I was suddenly confronted with 37 instances of supplementary charges and credits which has left me in relative terms massively in debt.  Obviously I have disputed this and demanded justification. Taking account of both meter readings and charges. I could almost imagine that Octopus has taken a leaf out of Tomato's book.
Coincidentally or not, re-billing has been quoted several times in national media recently. I'm curious to know if participants in this and/or sister threads have anything similar to report.
Back-billing is another name for re-billing from what I can tell.

Back-billing is a bill for a period of use that hasn't been billed before. On the other hand re-billing is a correction of a past bill.

In current circs I would hesitate before attributing the situation conclusively to one or the other definition.

I did suggest to Sam that he start a separate thread for his billing problem. He chose otherwise.

I would do so if I felt that billing was of interest to and shared by others. I'm not convinced that it / the intricacies are (more than of just passing interest). Economize on MSE airtime instead.

Do you only post here sam?, whatever the issue?

If so I agree it all gets lost in general tracker chat.

This is my default thread (I like the music) by tradition but follow the companion ones for Agile and Tomato & co also. This is necessary so as to avoid charges of going off topic. But now that I've switched to the 14-M fix I may no longer qualify.

@Telegraph_Sam - we've split this into its own thread as it's about a separate matter to Octopus Tracker
