Can anyone please recommend a steam iron to me. It doesnt have to be fancy. It needs to be
1. relatively light
2. have a comfortable handle ( some i've seen have the steam shot button under the handle in a very awkward place.
3. Flex not to get in the way when ironing
4. easy to clean / hard to burn soleplate
5. a long ( 3m flex)
6. Good temperature control and adjustable on /off steam
7. Sub £65 ideally
Thanks in anticipation

Hasn't seen much use, mind ...I was about to say the same!Most modern irons are light weightAs for easy to clean / hard to burn soleplate - They are all difficult to clean if you should set a too high temperature and burn the soleplate.Avoid those without a steam shot button on the top - shown in pictures online and on the box.You could always go on Amaz*n and read the reviews of irons available for purchase, along with 'ask a question' to clarify any particular specs.~ NSD 2025 - NSD July 22/20 (6 x💯)# Spectos/Royal Mail Monitoring and Posting Panel - Ongoing~ Totally FREE Christmas 2025 - 🎁✉️🏷🎀💐🪪🗒🧺⭐️Completed Challenges 2025:# No.36 Make £2025 in 2025 £1634.34 / £2025 (58%) (3) 💯💯+# No.12 Save £2 a Day 2025 2025: £730/ £730 💯# No.27 Save 1p A Day 2025 £667.95 / £667.95 💯# No.19 52 Week Env Challenge £1378 / £1378 💯# No.34 Save £12k in 2025 £13,429.74 / £12,000 💯 - Continuing1 -
I have a Russell Hobbs cordless iron - it's discontinued now, but it was £35 in 2019 and very much a budget model.
Some people complain it need to be placed on the charger too often. I find I have plenty of time to do a sleeve of a shirt before recharge, then I can move the garment while recharging. I could see it becoming frustrating while ironing a large flat thing like a sheet, but I don't iron sheets.
It only gets used a few times a year, so absolutely fine for me - if you use it frequently, a budget cordless might end up more frustrating than a corded one though.1 -
I read a lot of reviews and was put off cordless models by the need to keep replacing it on the stand, but on reflection it neednt be a deal breaker.0

I needed a quick replacement iron so went to Asda and bought a purple 'George' branded steam iron 2400W for £15. That was over 8 years ago and I'm still happily using it - it's been as good as any of the much more expensive irons I've used in the past. I don't think the cord is 3m long though.
