Sky Broadband Renewal - if they dont honour price; hangup and call back in

Tip: if they don't give a reduced renewal, hang up and try another person. 

Detail:
Called to get a better renewal deal.  Despite all the love for being a customer 500meg was going from £35 to £53/mth 
Lovely conversation, was upsold the faster speed and wifi max - said I wanted to check it out and would come back. 
Checked it out, faster speed was a good deal; didnt need wifi max
Called back and was told a different price £15/mth more and they wouldnt honour price from previous call 
Unbelievably pushy and nasty person - should have just hung up; but asked for line manager; made me wait ages so eventually gave up
Warning: the lady I spoke to said she opened, dealt with and closed  complaints so it would go nowhere! The new price was it and wouldnt be changing. 
Not sure why, but thought I would just call back before searching for another provider.
Rang straight back in; spoke to a lovely person; original reduced rate previously agreed, all done and dusted in minutes. 900meg @ £41/mth
I did put a complaint in and recieved confirmation from sky its fine and they would do nothing about it.  The renewal rates can vary, which I get.
