VM CONTRACT ENDING

Options
Our VM Contract ends 28 FEB. Have informed VM that we will not be renewing and they have said that we need to give 30 days notice. If this is correct it means that they will charge us approx 16 days at an inflated price.

We will have honoured the 18 Month Contract in full. Anybody else had this issue. Thanks

The 18 months is just the minimum term of the contract, beyond this point you are still in contract. So this is why the 28 days notice is still required.

VM have given you the agreed discount for 18 months and now you move to a rolling monthly contract at full price.

What you move to is not an inflated price, it is what was always in your contract for the product after your discounted period.

Unless you are intending to cease the internet service at your current address then the usual way to stop service from one supplier is to sign up with another.

The new provider will handle the takeover, this is normally done with a month to go on the old minimum term in order to minimise any increased billing from the old operator.

If you never intended to continue with VM past the minimum term , you should have told them around the 28th January , advising them 13Feb  means paying until around the 13 March, obviously small variations will exist as not all months have the same number of days in them

Yes that’s the way it works and I frequently forget. But not this time, I started a switch around 28 January, though  with time needed to get fibre in means I will have to pay at least 10 days at the double rate.

When I log into my account there is a reasonable offer. (Maybe cus I have given notice)

they also keep emailing me to remind me my contract and deal is ending.

Thats not the way it works with Virgin Media as they are on their own infrastructure. That would be correct for one Openreach ISP to another, but not VM.

Not any more @400ixl, the new One Touch Switch works with VM and quite a few of the other main providers.

Yeah I can confirm, I’m switching from VM to Vodafone and they alert VM.

I hadn’t even got off the phone or agreed a date and VM were sending me emails!
