BT BB contract ends tomorrow - Get BT new customer discount with wife?

As the title suggests really.. our contract under my name ends tomorrow and there is a deal for the same product for a lot less plus pre paid master card etc for new customers via broadband genie.

This offer ends tomorrow at midnight unfortunately! Have I left it too late to give notice of my intention to cancel and then have my wife sign up as a new customer to get that deal?

I'd check the T&Cs but I suspect that they've thought of that little loophole and covered it.

I'm going to contact retentions again now and ask the question. I was hoping maybe I would get a  cancellation date and then my wife would be able to select a connection date the day after

The system doesn’t work like that , if you migrate you only contact the new provider and leave everything to them , including letting the existing provider know, however this may  fail as the existing is in your name and the new provider will use your Mrs name , the alternative is for you to cease service and your Mrs join as a new customer, but this will not be the same day , possibly a few days or more without any service….you probably should call and see what retentions can do , it’s unlikely to be as good ( no pre paid card ) , if you go down the route of signing  up in the Mrs name it would be the same as you moving out and a new unrelated person moving in with the ‘checks’ necessary to make sure you are ha-y that your service is to cease , and obviously they may notice your Mrs isn’t really a new customer but your spouse

And if u don’t have fibre into the house, you could be a month while they install it!
