Thanks dear for your time, may ask why would you consider it will be more than three characters correctionOkell said:
Apologies if I'm demonstrating my ignorance of Indian first name/given name and last name/surname naming conventions, but are you saying that you put "Jawinder singh" down as your first name and then put down "Jaswinder Singh" as your surname?jaswinder_lubana said:
... I have entered "Jawinder singh" instead of "Jaswinder Singh" in first name column ('S' missed by mistake). However my name is typed correctly in surname i.e. column "Jaswinder Singh"...
If that is what you've done, I'd have thought it would take more than a three letter correction to put it right.

Around 20% and 1.5 mean if it was of 600 now the tickets is costing 900. So almost rebooking is costing me roughly double of the original spentMattMattMattUK said:
From what you have written it appears that instead of putting your first name as Jaswinder and your last name as Singh, so your ticket is made out to Jaswinder Singh, you are saying that you put Jawinder singh as your first name and Jaswinder Singh as your last name, so your ticket is made out to Jawinder singh Jaswinder Singh, that requires thirteen letters to correct.jaswinder_lubana said:

As others have pointed out as you booked through an agent Air India do not have to allow a name change or minor amendment, which is an issue with not booking direct.
A 1.5% increase is negligible and so irrelevant, how much are the cancellation charges?jaswinder_lubana said:The problem is that there are cancellations charge as well tickets price have increased to 1.5% of original price.0 -
So what options do you have?jaswinder_lubana said:

You won't get the name on your ticket changed without a fee.0 -
So the Surname/Family name on your passport is blank? Would have thought life would be much easier to use Jaswinder as the first name and Singh as the surname rather than a constant battle with webforms etc that expect people to have both.jaswinder_lubana said:I have booked air ticket from London to Amritsar (India)vod Air India from Travel Up website.
I have only one name (given name) on my Passport i.e. Jaswinder Singh. So as per Airline Guidelines, i typed in this name in First Name as well as in Surname while making booking.
Other than that is Air India's stated way of doing it if the surname is blank in the passport (which isnt THAT uncommon in India). They have special rules for certain countries:MattMattMattUK said:

Given they've followed the instruction and assuming their passport doesn't have a surname then in principle the ticket as it currently stands will be for Jawinder Singh Jaswinder Singh, unless the system deduplicates when there is a perfect match1
