  • Rang Aquila who are on that Wigan link which you sent to me - they are not too far away in Warrington and they seem OK
In the meaning I have chased The RBS system and they have fixed an appointment for the Manchester firm to come out at 10 am tomorrow
i have got a recommend for an engineer in Hesketth Bank and have spoken to him and he seems OK
I have traced back in my paperwork and found the engineer who installed the boiler and he is in Chorley
if the Manchester firm don’t fix it tomorrow I have several options

That sounds positive. It's good if you can get more than one quote. Keep us posted.

Been on LPG for 30 odd years, been a constant nightmare with being ripped off

I wish i had gone with oil.
  • It’s gone from bad to worse

Manchester engineer came out before lunch

He fitted a new pump and it blew the “ control board “ so he has been in touch with Firebird to order one and when it arrives he will  come out again

I have no heating at all now / not even upstairs and no hot water as boiler is out of action

I have an immersion heater for hot water

    The shower is electric

    I have electric heaters

I am trapped in the RBS system

Doesn't sound like this "engineer" knows what he is doing to be honest.
A lot of cowboys just replace the pump even if there is nothing wrong with the old one, and there presumably there wasn't as you had hot radiators upstairs so clearly the pump was working.
Is the pump part of the boiler or does it sit outwith?

What is the control board? To blow that suggests he's wired the pump incorrectly (though that shouldn't be possible unless he's tried wiring it up without turning off the boiler and somehow shorted something...
  • A nightmare

They are Nationwide Heating Group based in Manchester

The pump is inside the boiler

I don’t know what a control board is / he told me that is what had blown

I agree he seems not to know what he is doing

If he was unable to fix today I was going to say leave it and I will get another firm in but it’s a different scenario now that he has blown the control panel

RBS use CET Home Emergency Management

I have spoken to CET and they have authorised a new control board

If you only want to heat the room when you're in it, a fan heater works well. But you mustn't leave them unattended.
For something you can walk away from for a few minutes, I'd suggest an oil-filled heater.
