Tryfan918 said:Hi Chirpy (and GF1pr). Please don't give up trying to help people just because I cocked up. Your advice was and is very much appreciated. I just misunderstood the process as there is an awful lot to take in about this process while simultaneously trying to understand the content of the defence response (all while under a great deal of stress). I got confused by the advice on the main forum threads and made a mistake - and it sounds like a potentially costly one.
The MCOL portal now does not offer me the option of submitting a defence - that option has just disappeared and it only shows the "If you admit all of the amount claimed, complete the Admission form" option.
This is causing me far too much stress and anxiety so I think I just need to bite the bullet and pay up on this one to put it behind me. I can afford the fine, but I just can't risk a CCJ. Before doing so, would you mind confirming whether paying up now will be the end of this and what the best process is of making that payment i.e. through MCOL or directly with UKCPS' debt collection service?
Thank you - and I really do mean that despite my inability to follow instructions properly. Stay with me on this - your support is greatly appreciated.
If yes, it's in. Thank your lucky stars this wasn't DCB Legal who trigger CCJs far quicker than their new impersonators, Moorside.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

UPDATE
So it turns out UKCPS are litigious and my claim did end up in court with them seeking £270 plus the court fee.
But...
I won! They didn't bother to turn up and the judge was supportive of my arguments and the way I'd presented my evidence and defence.
So...
Instead of me paying them ~£300, they now have to pay me £50 in costs! A token payment - but my god, the curry I'm going to buy with UKCPS' money is going to taste like the finest meal I've ever eaten
Thanks for all the support offered by these forums - it really is invaluable. I'd also say that I found ChatGPT a really useful tool in helping me draft witness statements and skeleton arguments and generally helping in getting to grips with the case law etc.
Power to the 'little people' and good luck in your own battles against unscrupulous, parasitic companies like UKCPS 💪7 -
Same as another one on here a few days ago
Ukcps via Moorside Legal , and note, no CCJ either, because you won ( and you would have paid it in full promptly if you had lost )
Another one bites the dust !
Please fill in the current government public survey consultation before the end of next week, trying to get changes and regulation3 -
Ooh congrats! Well done.
Yep, Moorside claims are useless. Now, one final, urgent thing ... FIGHTBACK ALERT:Please do the government's Public Consultation. We need every poster to complete this vital survey before the deadline next week.
See this thread:
We understand that you may need some pointers. It looks laborious, we get that. It doesn't matter; no knowledge is needed except re your own experiences so you can call out a scam industry and you'll protect millions of motorists and help change the law.
I've written some guidance to help focus new posters on the issues. I've covered almost every question, providing ideas if you agree with our stance on things like DRFs, which we say must be banned.
Ordinary people like you are falling victim to this scam over 18 million times per annum. Motorists need your voice added please.
CLOSES ON FRIDAY 26th SEPTEMBER.
