Apple ID access
My partner recently passed away. Their phone has a passcode which I don't know so can't get into the phone and I wasn't set up as a legacy contact. I need to access their Apple account to get their photos and videos. Apple have told me I need to get a court order from the county court. I asked Apple how I get the court order and they couldn't help me. Does anyone have experience of doing this? I think this is the form I need to complete: n208-claim-form-cpr-part-8 on the gov website.
Does anyone know if this is right and how I go about things when I've completed it?

Have you tried logging into the iCloud account on a PC?

Yes Me and successful, I don't know about the form
I did know the Apple ID which is usually their email address I didn't know the password
Contact Apple support, open at USA times, they will ask questions and once accepted you have to wait about 30 days
Don't touch the phone in that period
You could try guessing the passcode, your dob, marriage date, etc, think of something he might use, bare in mind the phone will lock up after a certain number of tries0 -
Apple have implemented Advanced Data Protection in mid 22, its not on by default but if it is turned on by the user then Apple themselves cannot help you (there is a lot of press at the moment as allegedly the UK Government have asked for a back door into it)MikeJXE said:Yes Me and successful, I don't know about the form

Did the will explicitly cover digital assets?
There has been a well published case of a woman fighting apple for access to data but that predated the recent changes like the creation of legacy. Articles covering it stated she needed various things including a grant of probate.
